This blog is meant to compliment ApplyMate.com – the free web app to help you track school and job applications. Originally I planned to offer the ApplyMate as a stand alone site for job hunters and college applicants to track their applications (monitoring due dates, syncing calendars, seeing all apps in progress, etc.). But the more I read and thought about it, the more I realized ApplyMate could and should do more.
So, the blog seemed a natural next step – but what should it cover? Here you’ll find posts relevant to ApplyMate users – people applying for jobs, high school students applying for college, college students applying for grad schools, or some combination of the three. If you’re a recent college grad and are looking for a job while pursuing grad school, you really need all the help you can get. That’s why we’re here.
While the blog takes off, the first few posts will be from me directly. Eventually I plan to include posts from people far smarter and more qualified than me. This will include guest posts from HR folks, different business executives, recruiters, guidance counselors, college admissions staff, and anything else I think would be interesting or relevant.
Another great benefit of the blog is that it offers you – the readers – an opportunity to share comments, advice, and best practices with each other. My posts are meant to get the conversation started, offer a bit of information or insight, and then turn it over to you. Getting a job and getting into school is a daunting task, and competition for both is becoming fiercer and fiercer. Now we can all help each other along what, otherwise, can be a cold and lonely road.
Best of luck, and please let me know what you think!
